Apple introduced the M1 Apple silicon chipset to all its Macs, including the iMac. However, unlike other Macs, the iMac didn’t get the M2 treatment. Fortunately, Apple realized it and refreshed the iMac with M3 at the “Scary Fast” event in October 2023. If you have an M1 iMac or are planning to get the M1 or M3 iMac, it can get overwhelming on what to choose. But don’t worry; we’ll compare the M3 iMac against the M1 iMac to help you make a better purchase decision.

M3 iMac vs. M1 iMac: Specifications

Before proceeding to compare the M1 and M3 iMac in detail, let’s take a look at their key specifications to give you a better idea.

There’s little to no difference in the specifications of the M3 iMac, except the processor, which is M3, as the name suggests. Let’s compare them in detail so you can get a better idea of what to choose.

M1 iMac vs. M3 iMac: Design

Sources: Apple.com

The design of the M1 iMac was so fantastic that Apple decided to make no changes to the M3 iMac. It still comes in the same 7-color options: yellow, blue, pink, silver, orange, purple, and green. You get colored-matched accessories with the M3 iMac, just like its predecessor.

Besides, you get the same rectangular chassis with the same height, width, and thickness; plus, the stand remains the same. Although there’s no height adjustment to the stand, you can still tilt to a comfortable eye level.

Furthermore, the base variant M3 iMac features two Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a configurable Gigabit Ethernet port. The higher-end variant features two extra USB 3 ports, the same as the M1 iMac.

M3 iMac vs. M1 iMac: Display

The M3 iMac has the same display as the M1 iMac without any modifications. Both have a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 218 ppi and a max brightness of 500 nits. These displays also feature the P3 wide-color gamut and True Tone technology.

They house the same 1080p FaceTime HD camera and a down-firing six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers, which supports wide stereo sound and Spatial Audio. That said, there aren’t any changes apart from these.

M1 iMac vs. M3 iMac: Performance Comparison

M1 iMac vs. M3 iMac Performance
Sources: Apple.com

The only difference between the M1 iMac and the M3 iMac is performance, as they both. have M1 and M3 chipsets, respectively. If Apple is not wrong, the M3 processor has 30% faster performance and 50% faster efficiency cores than the M1. Plus, Apple claims that the M3 chipset will bring the same multi-core performance as the M1 processor to the M3 iMac with half the power consumption.

Besides, the M3 features a 10-core GPU, which, again, Apple says, is 65% faster than M1’s GPU. Moreover, the entire M3 lineup of processors has Dynamic Caching with hardware-accelerated mesh shading and ray tracing. As a result, you get better performance when playing games or doing tasks that require the GPU’s power.

M3 iMac vs. M1 iMac: Peripherals

While Apple is switching to the USB-C standard with the iPhone 15 series, AirPods, and Apple Pencil, we see no upgrades to Apple’s Magic Mouse and Magic Keyboard, included with the M3 iMac, so there’s no difference in peripherals between both iMacs.

You’ll have to pay $50 if you want a Magic Touchpad instead of the Magic Mouse or $129 for both; the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID will cost an extra $50, and $80 if you want Touch ID and number pad when configuring your iMac purchase.

M3 iMac vs. M1 iMac: Price and Value

Apple discontinued its M1 iMac with the launch of the M3 iMac. However, you can still find the M1 iMac at third-party resellers for a lower price (around $1249) than the M3 iMac, which starts at $1299.

There is no difference in the design or additional benefits with the M3 iMac compared to the M1 iMac. If you already have an M1 iMac, there’s no need to upgrade to the newer M3 iMac, even if it has a boost in performance. But if you’re planning to go for a brand-new iMac, we’d suggest you look for an M1 iMac for less than $1200, but if you don’t find it, go for the M3 iMac without any second thoughts.

M1 iMacs are still worth it in 2023. A powerful and versatile all-in-one desktop computer with a beautiful display, excellent performance, and a long battery life. Compared to other high-end Macs, it is also relatively affordable.

The specifications on paper might look marginal on paper, but let’s compare them individually so that you can get a better idea.

M2 Pro vs M3 Pro MacBook Pro: Design

Apple hasn’t changed the design of the MacBook Pro in recent years, and this model doesn’t look much different from its predecessors. Whether you consider the height, width, weight, and chassis, everything remains the same.

However, the company introduced a new color to the lineup—Space Black, featuring a matte black finish. But the M3 Pro MacBook Pro won’t be available in Space Gray color if you prefer that.

M3 Pro vs. M2 Pro MacBook Pro: Display

M3 Pro MacBook Pro vs. M2 Pro MacBook Pro Display Comparison

The M3 Pro MacBook Pro (MBP) features the same Liquid Retina XDR display without any meaningful changes from its predecessor. The only difference you’ll find is that the M3 Pro MacBook Pro features an increased SDR brightness of 100 nits compared to the M2 Pro MacBook Pro. Besides, the peak HDR brightness, sustained brightness, and ProMotion remain unchanged in the display counterparts.

M2 Pro vs M3 Pro MacBook Pro: Performance Comparison

M2 Pro MacBook Pro vs M3 Pro MacBook Pro Performance Comparison

As usual, you’d expect the new MacBook Pro variants to be faster since they feature a new chipset, and Apple keeps the promise. The M3 Pro MacBook Pro features an M3 Pro chipset, and the M2 Pro MacBook Pro has an M2 Pro chipset.

The M3 Pro processor uses a 3nm fabrication process and has an 11-core CPU (5 performance + 6 efficiency cores) with a 14-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine. On the contrary, the M2 Pro uses a 5nm fabrication process with a 10-core CPU (6 performance + 4 efficiency) and a 16-core GPU with a 16-core Neural Engine.

While it might look like fewer GPU cores and performance efficiency cores in the M3 Pro processor, Apple has improved the performance by balancing the efficiency and performance cores. According to Apple, the M3 MacBook Pro offers a 10% to 15% boost in performance, which makes it a minor upgrade.

M3 Pro vs. M2 Pro MacBook Pro: Battery Life

Regarding battery life, Apple claims more battery on the M3 Pro MacBook Pro and says it can last up to 22 hours when watching videos and 15 hours when browsing the web. In contrast, the M2 can only last up to 18 hours of video playing and 12 hours of web browsing.

Plus, you get a slightly increased 70W charger with the M3 Pro MacBook Pro, whereas the M2 Pro MacBook came with only a 67W charger.

M2 Pro vs M3 Pro MacBook Pro: Price and Value

Apple made a significant change regarding the price of the M3 Pro MacBook Pro. The M2 Pro MacBook Pro cost $1999 at it’s launch, but Apple reduced the price of the M3 Pro MacBook Pro to $1599, making it $400 cheaper.

When you compare the M2 Pro and M3 Pro MacBook Pro variants in terms of price and value, the M3 Pro MacBook Pro is undoubtedly the better option. You might get the M2 Pro MacBook Pro for a much cheaper price from third-party retailers, but the M3 Pro MacBook Pro would still be a better choice.

Final Thoughts

So this was our comparison between the M3 Pro MacBook Pro and the M2 Pro MacBook Pro, and we hope it gave you a better idea of what to purchase. The M3 Pro MacBook Pro has similar features as the M2 Pro MacBook Pro, but the lower price takes the crown here. Ultimately, the decision is upon you when purchasing one of these powerful machines for yourself or anyone else.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Design Comparison

The iPhone 15 Pro Max features an attractive, bezel-less design with cozy rounded corners. Notably, it has a sturdy titanium construction that replaces the stainless steel of the iPhone 14 Pro Max and provides strength and lightness in comparison to the aluminum of the S23 Ultra.

When talking about size, the iPhone 15 Pro Max measures 6.29 x 3.02 x 0.32 inches and weighs 7.8 ounces, making it more compact and lighter than the S23 Ultra, which comes in at 6.4 x 3.0 x 0.35 inches and 8.2 ounces. However, the S23 Ultra boasts a slightly larger display and includes a built-in S Pen.

Moreover, the screen of the S23 Ultra has curved edges, which I personally like despite the possibility of accidental touches on occasion. I can observe more clearly because of these curves, maximizing the use of my smartphone. Furthermore, while contrasting these two flagship cell phones, I prefer the Samsung’s smaller punch hole in the display to the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s Dynamic Island.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Display Comparison

The iPhone 15 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra both have excellent OLED displays. The iPhone’s screen is slightly smaller at 6.7 inches compared to the Galaxy’s 6.8 inches, but they both offer vibrant colors and a 120Hz refresh rate. In my side-by-side test, I noticed that the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s screen was slightly brighter, reaching 1,500 nits in HDR content, whereas the Galaxy S23 Ultra reached 1,444 nits. Indoors, the 15 Pro Max appeared brighter, but Samsung’s adaptive brightness had an advantage in direct sunlight.

Regarding color accuracy, the Galaxy S23 Ultra performed better in sRGB and DCI-P3 tests, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s colors were more accurate in our Delta-E test. I appreciate that Samsung provides various color profiles, but when it comes to content viewing, the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s screen appeared superior, with higher contrast and depth in subjects, as seen in the movie trailer.

Below, I’ve included the test results I conducted using both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung S23 Ultra in a table format for reference.

SpecificationsiPhone 15 Pro MaxGalaxy S23 Ultra

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Camera Comparison

When it comes to the cameras on the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung S23 Ultra, they each have their unique camera features. While the iPhone brings some cool camera upgrades, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the other hand, also boasts impressive specs, especially in terms of camera resolution.

iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Camera Comparison

The iPhone 15 Pro Max sticks with its impressive 48MP main camera from the previous model but has some cool enhancements. You can now customize default focal lengths and enjoy a new 24MP default photo size.

Plus, there are improvements to the Photonic Engine and Smart HDR. The big change is the addition of a 5.0X periscope camera for 120mm zoom. Apple’s updated Photonic Engine and enhanced HDR promise even better photos and depth data for portraits in regular photos. However, it falls short in zoom capabilities compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Camera Comparison

On the other hand, the Galaxy S23 Ultra wows with its massive 200MP camera featuring a large ISOCELL HP2 sensor. It can produce detailed 50MP photos in good light and 12.5MP photos in low-light conditions.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Performance Comparison

Comparing the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max, both are speedy smartphones, but the iPhone takes the lead thanks to its A17 Pro chip. This chip is significant as the first 3nm phone processor with more transistors, boosting its performance.

Specifically, the iPhone 15 Pro Max scored an impressive 2,700 for single-core and 6,900 for multi-core on Geekbench, a renowned performance benchmark. In contrast, the Galaxy S23 Ultra lagged with a halved single-core speed and 34% slower multi-core speed.

Graphical performance was close. In the 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited test, the iPhone achieved 92 frames per second, while the Samsung managed 87 fps. However, the iPhone excelled in video editing, transcoding a 4K film to 1080p in just 24.5 seconds, 15 seconds faster than the S23 Ultra, showcasing its real-world capability.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra: Battery Life Comparison

In my battery test, the iPhone 15 Pro Max outlasted the Galaxy S23 Ultra while web surfing on 5G at full brightness. The iPhone lasted an impressive 14 hours and 2 minutes. On the other hand, the Samsung flagship managed 13 hours and 9 minutes in 60Hz mode and 12 hours and 22 minutes in adaptive mode, which is the default setting and cannot be changed on the iPhone.

Interestingly, even though the Galaxy S23 Ultra couldn’t match the iPhone’s endurance, it had a faster charging capability. Using a 45W charger, the Samsung reached 57% battery in just 30 minutes. In contrast, the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with a 20W charger, only reached 41% in the same half-hour timeframe.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Galaxy S23 Ultra: Price and value

When it comes to the cost of Apple and Samsung’s flagship phones, both are quite expensive. The base model of the iPhone 15 Pro Max starts at $1,199 and includes 256GB of storage. There are alternatives for 512GB at $1,399 or a hefty 1TB at $1,599 if you need more storage.

Conversely, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra begins at $1,199 with 256GB of storage. If you want additional capacity, you may choose between 512GB at $1,379 and a whopping 1TB at $1,619.

👉 iPhone 15 Pro Max vs Galaxy S23 Ultra: Special features and software

When comparing the smart features of the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, it’s clear that the iPhone has an advantage.

The new Action Button integration is a game-changer for iPhone users. It allows for customization to launch specific features, although its functionality is somewhat limited at the moment. However, there’s optimism for future improvements. Additionally, the Dynamic Island feature looks cool and proves highly useful when using various apps. On the other hand, the standout feature of the S23 Ultra is its S Pen. Included with the device, it enables note-taking, sketching, and precise photo edits, making it a valuable tool. Another handy feature is multi-window, which allows running two applications simultaneously on the screen, making multitasking a breeze.

Which one to buy?

Choosing one from the iPhone 15 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is a tough call as both devices have their strengths and weaknesses. I’ve given you all the comparison information that you possibly need to decide whether it be battery life, camera quality, or performance.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Price

When considering the purchase of a new smartphone, it’s important to consider the cost factor. The recently unveiled iPhone debuted at the Wanderlust event on September 12, 2023, and became available for purchase on September 15.

In terms of pricing, the flagship device comes with the following storage capacities:

  • 128GB: $799 / £799 / AU$1,499
  • 256GB: $899 / £899 / AU$1,699
  • 512GB: $1,099 / £1,099 / AU$2,049

On the other hand, the iPhone 14 was officially introduced on September 7, 2022, and prior to its availability for purchase on September 16, it had the following prices for different storage models of the premium device:

  • 128GB: $699 / £699 / AU$1,299
  • 256GB: $799 / £799 / AU$1,499
  • 512GB: $999 / £999 / AU$1,849

You may have observed that the launch prices of the iPhone 15 in the United States remain the same as those of the iPhone 14, whereas the prices in the UK have experienced a slight decrease.

However, the iPhone 15 launch prices in Australia are slightly higher compared to their iPhone 14 counterparts.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Design and Size

As in the past, Apple has not made any drastic changes to its design and has maintained the traditional iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 styles with an aluminum body. However, it’s worth noting that there have been some subtle but noticeable changes.

The iPhone 15 debuts a revolutionary matte-textured rear cover that harmonizes flawlessly with the metal frame’s softly curved (or “contoured,” in Apple’s language) edge. While compared to the iPhone 14, these adjustments may seem minor, but they unquestionably improve the device’s ergonomics, making the iPhone 15 substantially more pleasant to handle.

One significant divergence in design between these two devices is the presence of a USB-C (2.0) port in the new iPhone 15, in contrast to the Lightning port found in the iPhone 14. The phones exhibit minimal discrepancies in size, with the iPhone 15 being marginally lighter.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Display Differences

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 come equipped with Super Retina XDR displays, Apple’s top-tier OLED technology, which is famous for its excellent brightness, contrast, and color accuracy. There are a few notable differences between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 in terms of display:

  • Peak brightness: The iPhone 15 has a peak brightness of 2000 nits, which is higher than the 1200 nits of the iPhone 14. This equates to the iPhone 15 having better visibility in direct sunlight.
  • Display design: The iPhone 15 ditches the notch found on the iPhone 14 in favor of a Dynamic Island. The front camera and Face ID sensors are housed in this pill-shaped cutout, which provides a more compact design and maximizes screen space.

For a quick summary, here’s a table outlining the key distinctions:

Though the iPhone 15’s display outshines the iPhone 14 with its brighter and more contemporary design, both displays deliver an exceptional user experience.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Performance and Storage

In terms of performance, the iPhone 15 is equipped with the A16 Bionic chip borrowed from the Pro models of the iPhone 14 series, while the iPhone 14 still operates on the A15 Bionic chip. This inclusion of the A16 Bionic chip gives the iPhone 15 a perceptible boost in speed compared to the iPhone 14, although the latter remains quite capable in terms of performance.

To put it simply, the difference in performance between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 is akin to the performance gap between the iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro, which is not substantial.

Moreover, the iPhone 14 also offers sufficient speed for the majority of users. However, the iPhone 15 provides a slightly higher level of power, allowing it to handle tasks like streaming, browsing, photography, and gaming with even greater ease.

Both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 offer the same choices in the storage department as they come with a base 128GB option, a 256GB option, and a top-tier 512GB option. Moreover, Apple does not officially disclose the RAM specifications, but both devices reportedly have 6GB of RAM.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Camera

In terms of camera capabilities, the iPhone 15 has notably surpassed its predecessor, the iPhone 14. Previously, Apple provided a 12MP main rear camera, but with the iPhone 15, there’s a significant upgrade to a 48MP main rear camera. However, it’s important to note that the ultra-wide lens remains at 12MP.

It’s worth noting that the 48MP camera in both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14 Pro models may seem similar, but it’s not the case as the 48MP camera in the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 14 Pro models differs due to the distinct sensors used in each device.

What sets the iPhone 15 apart is its flexibility. You can now capture a photo in normal mode and convert it into a portrait image and vice versa. Additionally, the iPhone 15’s camera sensors measure the depth of objects in the picture, adjusting the blurriness and de-blurriness accordingly, enhancing the overall photo quality.

Despite capturing snaps in 48MP, the iPhone 15 surprisingly doesn’t consume much of your iPhone storage, making it both lightweight and efficient. When comparing low-light images taken with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, the differences in the newer model are clearly evident, establishing it as the clear winner in this department.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Audio Quality

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Audio Quality

Apple’s iPhones are renowned for featuring some of the finest phone speakers available. This holds true for both the iPhone 15 and iPhone 14. We observed no differences during our audio quality testing while watching YouTube videos or listening to podcasts. Furthermore, the vibrations also exhibited consistent performance in both of these phones.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Battery and Charging

Apple typically keeps battery specifications private, but for the iPhone 14 it’s been revealed that it carries a 3,279mAh battery. This battery provides a full day of usage under normal everyday conditions.

iPhone 15 vs. iPhone 14: Battery and Charging

The exact battery size remains undisclosed for now when talking about the newly launched iPhone 15. However, our tests demonstrated a similar capability of lasting almost 15-16 hours daily in casual use.

Additionally, the iPhone 15 retains the ability to charge to 50% in just 30 minutes, a feature consistent with the iPhone 14. It also maintains the same charging speeds of 15W for MagSafe and 7.5W for the Qi standard.

An interesting detail is that the iPhone 15 supports the new Qi2 standard for wireless charging, enabling 15W charging with more affordable, non-Apple accessories in the near future.

Final thoughts

The decision to upgrade to the vanilla iPhone 15 depends on several factors, such as your current iPhone model, your preferences for a smartphone, and your budget.

In my opinion, if your budget allows, I would recommend considering the iPhone 15. Since 1985, when Windows OS version 1.0 was released, there has been no looking back. Microsoft has maintained an innovative drive and has consistently built on that first version to deliver great operating systems for its huge consumer base. The last two client operating systems, Windows 10 and 11, were released in 2015 and 2021, respectively, and they both saw great adoption and use.

After a couple of years, both editions, let us show you how they stand out stacked against each other in this Windows 11 vs. Windows 10.

Windows 11 Overview

Windows 11 comes as Microsoft’s newest Windows NT operating system major release. This OS allows a free upgrade for eligible computers running on Windows 10.

While carrying over a lot from Windows 10, it is packed with new and unique features, many of which we explore in this guide. It offers a redesigned user interface and is built to be more user-friendly, with a novel Start menu, taskbar, and widgets.

Windows 10 Overview

Windows 10 was a free upgrade from Windows 7 via Windows Update and Windows 8 and 8.1 users via the Windows Store. It was built as a unified software for various devices like PCs, laptops, phones, and video consoles.

It brought back the Start menu and introduced a new Cortana for system control. The OS also included a new Edge browser and a Continuum feature for touchscreen devices to let users seamlessly move between desktop and tablet modes. It also introduced security features such as the Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection and Windows Hello biometric authentication.

Both Operating Systems Have Similar Features

Both editions of Windows 10 and Windows 11 share a lot of similar features. However, for the most part, the interface of some of these features is different. Let’s explore some of these features.

1. Start Menu

The Start menu has been a core way of gaining access to most Windows operating system features. While the Start menu for Windows 10 and 11 has a few differences, let’s first talk about what they share in common.

You can pin your favorite apps on both, giving you easy and quick access. The Windows 11 Start menu also carried over the search feature, allowing it to locate files and folders in addition to programs quickly. They also offer access to the Settings app and allow for customization.

One immediate difference is that on Windows 11, the Start menu is positioned by default at the center of the Taskbar. It also feels more simplified with a lesser number of applications. Unlike Windows 10, there is no support for live Tiles on the latest OS.

However, this feature is one that both operating systems still share.

2. Taskbar

On both operating systems, the Taskbar is still easy to access some of your most used apps. It is at the bottom of the desktop or home screen by default.

You may pin apps for quick access and convenience using the Taskbar on both operating systems. You also get icons showing all your currently running applications and can switch between the apps seamlessly.

Windows 11 continued with the search bar on the Taskbar, even though it is designed to look a bit different. By default, it still holds the system tray with programs like the clock, volume control, and battery meter.

That is as far as the similarities in the Taskbar go. Windows 11 came with some changes. For instance, its Taskbar is centered on the screen. It bears a larger icon with a slightly larger spacing between them and does not have the Cortana integration.

3. File Explorer

On Windows 10 and 11, the File Explorer remains an integral file and folder management feature. On both operating systems, you may browse for files and folders by entering text into the search field of the File Explorer. Windows 11 kept different file or folder view options: List, Details, and Tiles.

Similar Features in Windows 10 and 11

Using the file explorer, you can still carry out routine management on both operating systems, so you can create, copy, move, rename, and delete folders and files.

However, the first noticeable difference is in the design. Windows 11 comes with a simplified design and bears fewer icons and buttons. While on Windows 10, the search bar is combined with the file explorer toolbar, Windows 11 has a dedicated search bar.

Windows 11’s File Explorer supports tabs, so you may open several folders in a single window. It also has a Command bar that allows seamless access to folder operations.

4. WIN32 App Compatibility

The WIN32 App Compatibility is a major similarity between Windows 10 and 11. It allows them to support an overwhelming majority of Win32 apps, which make up many traditional Windows apps.

This was a feature Microsoft invested heavily into so that apps do not lose functionality on the most recent OS. With efforts such as wide testing of Win32 apps, collaborating with developers to fix compatibility issues, and providing troubleshooting resources for developers, about 99% of these apps are compatible with Windows 11.

Biggest Changes & New Features at Windows 11

We have explored features you were used to if you come from a Windows 10 background. However, Windows 11 came with some new solutions and features. Let us explore a few that stand out.

1. Android App Support

Android app support is about the most exciting feature of Windows 11. On Windows 10, you would need an emulator before running an Android app, but on the new OS, you may simply run them directly without any hassle.

To use this feature, all you have to do is install the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA). You must note that, to date, not all Android apps are compatible with Windows 11, but you will find many compatible apps on the Amazon App Store.

We love this feature because it means you have a wider range of apps to try out, and this can increase performance and enhance the user experience.

2. Snap Layouts

The Snap layout feature gives many cool alternatives and pre-defined ways of arranging your windows on the screen. Using this feature may be a huge productivity hack.

Features Exclusive to Windows 11

This option is quite easy to use, as you only have to hover the cursor over the maximize button of a window to see all possible options. You may also use keyboard keys like pre-defined to open the options.

3. Widgets

The Widgets feature gives a user quick access to tools and information on their favorite services or apps. You may display these little interactive blocks on a separate window or on your desktop.

You gain access to this feature by clicking the Widget icon of the Taskbar, and by dragging its edges, you may resize it to your taste.

4. Focus Sessions

You may have guessed it right. This feature is one to help you stay focused and productive. With it, you may set a timer when all notifications and pop-up messages are blocked.

Features Exclusive to Windows 11

This feature is integrated into the clock app, and once enabled, you will see a timer showing how long it takes before your messages and pop-ups start displaying again. We love that it summarizes your progress at the end of each focus session.

5. Voice Access

With this new feature, you are able to control your author text and PC with your voice. The feature does a lot, letting you open and switch between apps, read and author email, browse the web, and more.

You may turn on this feature in the Settings app to use it. There is a wide range of commands it supports, including controlling the mouse, your menus, and the keyboard. This feature will especially benefit someone disabled or impaired from using normal PC functions.

Should I Upgrade to Windows 11?

This is the ultimate question you may hope we answer in this Windows 11 vs Windows 10 comparison. In this guide, we have laid bare some functions and features to help educate your decision, but ultimately, the choice is up to you.

Windows 11 has more advanced features and, in some ways, feels like a more user-friendly operating system. This should not be surprising as it was built to upgrade the old OS.

Do let us know your thoughts on both operating systems. We would love to hear from you in the comments section.

Google unveiled its new flagship, the Pixel 8 Pro, at its October 2023 event. It outperforms its predecessor in many ways, including amazing AI capabilities and numerous other features. However, Google raised the price of its latest Pro series, making it a rival to other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra.

In terms of camera and performance in the Android world, the S23 Ultra is an excellent choice. Hence, your confusion between these two smartphones is apparent. In this guide, we’ll compare the Pixel 8 Pro and the S23 Ultra to help you decide which is best for you.

The Pixel 8 Pro and the Galaxy S23 Ultra do have a few edges over one another when it comes to specs. However, the story can be different on paper, though.

Pixel 8 Pro vs. Galaxy S23 Ultra: Design and Display

The display Galaxy S23 Ultra is amazing with a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED display that has a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pixel 8 Pro, on the other hand, doesn’t compromise much with a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display at 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, even having a slightly larger display, doesn’t match the brightness levels on the Pixel 8 Pro. The Pixel 8 Pro has a peak brightness of 2400 while the S23 Ultra only has 1750 nits.

Pixel 8 Pro vs. Galaxy S23 Ultra: Design and Display

Besides the display, the Pixel 8 Pro retains its curved design, even bezels, and the aluminum frame, making it easy to hold in hands. On the contrary, the S23 Ultra looks more dominative while keeping it easier to hold with squared-off corners and rounded edges. Lastly, both smartphones feature a Gorilla Glass Victus rear glass.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Pixel 8 Pro: Performance

There’s no doubt that the S23 Ultra takes the edge here with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, based on the 4nm architecture. As an icing on the cake, the S23 Ultra got a custom chipset that produces raw processing power while maintaining its power efficiency and excellent ISP.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Pixel 8 Pro: chipst

On the flip side, the Pixel 8 Pro comes with its proprietary Tensor G3 chip, which might sound like a big deal at first. This chipset, even being a 4nm chipset, focuses on AI features like Magic Editor, Call Screening, Audio Magic Eraser, and more rather than providing good performance for the Pixel 8 Pro.

Both manufacturers approach performance differently; while the S23 Ultra focuses on raw power, the Pixel 8 Pro goes for AI advancements.

Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Google Pixel 8 Pro: Cameras

Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Google Pixel 8 Pro: Cameras

Cameras are something that both smartphones excel at, but both smartphones take a slightly different approach. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has four cameras: a 200MP main camera, 10MP, periscope telephoto camera, 10MP telephoto camera, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. With these four lenses, you’ll get outstanding photos, especially the ones with 10x or more zoom since the S23 Ultra supports up to 100x zoom.

Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Google Pixel 8 Pro Cameras

Google’s Pixel 8 Pro, on the contrary, has an improved camera system that allows more light into the lens. There’s a 50MP main lens, 48MP telephoto lens, and a 48MP ultrawide lens. While this might translate not much on paper, the Pixel 8 Pro’s magic lies behind its software. The post image processing has always been one of the perks about the Pixel phones.

Pixel 8 Pro vs. S23 Ultra: Software

On the software side, the Pixel 8 Pro comes straight out of the box with Android 14, but the S23 Ultra still runs OneUI 5.1 on top of Android 13. And hence, if you own a Pixel, you get the benefit of getting early updates to your device.

Pixel 8 Pro vs. S23 Ultra: Software

What’s more exciting is that Google promised up to 7 years of OS and security updates for the latest Pixel 8 Pro, meaning if you get a Pixel 8 Pro, you’ll receive Android updates until 2030. The Galaxy S23 Ultra, on the flip side, offers 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates. Which doesn’t fall much behind from what the Pixel 8 Pro offers.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs. Google Pixel 8 Pro: Battery

When it comes to battery life, the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Google Pixel 8 Pro are almost the same with a 5000 mAh and 5050 mAh battery, respectively. So, there isn’t going to be much difference in the battery life.

However, there’s a sizable difference in charging speeds between both phones. The Pixel 8 Pro can charge at 30W on a wired charger and at 23W wirelessly. In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra can charge at 45W with wired charging and at 15W wirelessly. Both smartphones support reverse wireless charging which can come handy.

Conclusion

The S23 Ultra starts at $1199, while the Pixel 8 Pro starts at $999, implying that Google is attempting to close the price gap in order to enter the flagship segment. If you’re looking for the best Android flagship smartphone, the S23 Ultra is worth the extra $200 over the Pixel 8 Pro.

However, if you take a lot of photos that need to look good and want a smartphone for everyday use, we’d recommend the Pixel 8 Pro over the S23 Ultra, which is $200 cheaper. Plus, if you like Android OS, seven years of updates should excite you even more.

Google unveiled the Pixel 8 series, which includes the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, to the public in October 2023. Although Google saved the majority of the changes for the Pixel 8 Pro, the Pixel 8 does have some subtle improvements. As a result of the new Pixel 8, the price of the Pixel 7 should be reduced.

Furthermore, if you own a Pixel 7, you may be wondering whether the Pixel 8 is a worthy upgrade. We’ll compare the Google Pixel 8 vs Google Pixel 7 in this guide to help you decide whether to spend the extra cash on the new Pixel 8 or save it for the Pixel 7.

👉 Google Pixel 8 vs. Google Pixel 7: Specifications

Before we proceed to compare Pixel 7 and Pixel 8, here is a rundown of the specifications of both the smartphones.

PriceStarts at $699Starts at $509

There aren’t any huge differences on paper at least. Let’s take a closer look and see how the Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 differ in each aspect.

👉 Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7: Design and Display

When it comes to smartphones, the first and foremost thing that catches our eye is the design and the display. The Pixel 8 has a 6.2-inch OLED display, which is smaller compared to the 6.3-inch OLED display on the Pixel 7. However, Pixel 8 offers a 120Hz refresh rate with a peak brightness of 2,000 nits while the Pixel 7 has a 90H refresh rate with 1,400 nits of peak brightness.

Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7 Design and Display

Besides, you get to see a slightly rounded back design on the Pixel 8, which makes it slightly more comfortable to hold over the Pixel 7. Other than these differences, both smartphones feature the same aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass Victus protection on the front and back.

👉 Google Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7: Performance

The Pixel 8 houses the latest cheapest from Google, the Tensor G3, which Google claims as the powerful chipset they’ve made yet with many AI capabilities. Also, the Pixel 8 has the Titan M2 chip that takes care of security on the hardware level. Speaking of AI capabilities, there are features like Clear Calling, Call Assist, Video Boost, and many more.

Google Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7: Performance

The Pixel 7, on the other hand, boasts the Tensor G2 chipset, which isn’t far away from Tensor G3 in terms of performance. Plus, you don’t miss out on a dedicated Titan security chip and AI capabilities such as Call Screening, Voice Transcribe, and many others. Overall, you shouldn’t expect an excellent performance output with the Google Tensor chipsets.

👉 Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 8: Cameras

The rear cameras on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 are the same at 50 MP main and 12 MP ultra-wide angle lenses. But the Pixel 8 has a 10.5 MP front camera while the Pixel 7 has a 10.8 MP front-facing camera. On paper, the specs might look almost the same, but it’s software where Google made most of the changes. Although the rear camera on the Pixel 8 features an f/1.68 aperture and 114-degree FoV compared to the f/1.85 aperture and 125.8-degree FoV on the Pixel 7.

Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 8: Cameras

The Pixel 7 comes with AI features like Magic Eraser, Photo Unblur, Real Tone, and more. The Pixel 8 also includes these but adds on them with features like Best Take, Magic Editor, Audio Magic Eraser, and Zoom Enhance. The Magic Editor not only allows you to remove unwanted objects from images, but also generate them.

Currently, Google isn’t allowing these features on Google Pixel 7 or earlier models, so these are exclusive to Pixel 8. Apart from that, there aren’t many differences between these two regarding the cameras.

👉 Google Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7: Software

Speaking of the software, the Google Pixel 8 comes with Android 14 installed, and it’s no different from what’s on the Pixel 7. However, what’s exciting with Google Pixel 8 is that it will receive 7 years of OS updates (not security updates, but OS updates). Hence, if you purchase a Pixel 8, you’ll receive Android updates till 2030.

Google Pixel 8 vs. Pixel 7 Software comparison

On the contrary, the Pixel 7 doesn’t have any changes in the software update policy and will receive Android updates for four years after its release, that is 2026. Besides, most of the features that Pixel 8 receives, Pixel 7 will get them too with software updates.

👉 Google Pixel 7 vs. Pixel 8: Battery Life

The Pixel 8 has a physically larger battery capacity of 4,575 mAh compared to 4,335 mAh on the Pixel 7, which translates to longer battery life. However, the higher refresh rate and brighter display may negate Pixel 8’s capacity advantage.

Google claims that the Pixel 8 has more than 24-hour battery life which may not be entirely accurate. As a result, the Pixel 8 may offer slightly more SoT (Screen on Time) than the Pixel 7.

FAQs

Which phone should I buy, the Pixel 8 or the Pixel 7?

Choosing the right phone depends on your needs and budget. If you are looking for the best possible display, performance, and battery life, then the Pixel 8 is the better choice. You can still get a great phone with the Pixel 7 if you’re on a tight budget or are satisfied with its display and performance.

Conclusion

While the Pixel 8’s specs are similar to those of the Pixel 7, there are some subtle differences. The Pixel 8 starts at $699, while the Pixel 7 starts at $599 on the Google Store. Because the Pixel 7 is a year old, you can find it much cheaper in offline stores. So, if you’re thinking about upgrading from the Pixel 7 to the Pixel 8, we recommend against it. However, if you’re upgrading from an older Android device, the Pixel 8 is an excellent choice.
